The Highland Clearances is a site put together by Douglas MacGowan, dedicated to the remembrance of the massive evictions of residents in Scotland's Highlands and Islands during the 18th and 19th centuries -- and today.

The Catholic Encyclopedia is an enormous site, with many references to Scotland, and Scottish saints and churches. The only problem being, the site is so large it may take you some time to find what you are actually looking for. It's best to visit with a particular subject in mind

The First Scottish Books from the National Library of Scotland, digitised pages of the earliest known books in ScotlandThe complete text of two 19th century books, written by Dr Ebenezer Henderson, detailing the history of two areas in Fife, from earliest time to the 19thcentury. The Annals of Dunfermline and The Annals of Kinrosshire, both make very interesting reading, especially for myself, hailing as I do, from Dunfermline. The Marquis of Montrose Society as the title suggests dedicated to James Graham, 1st Marquis of Montrose, who so successfully led a small royalist army on a campaign throughout Scotland, during the Civil War. Scottish History, new award winning site by Robert M. Gunn medieval author and historian, covers all aspects of Scottish and Celtic history, includes chapters on,
Small piece on the history of the Stewarts a historic and renowned Scottish clan Frith's Celtic Scotland with page illustrations from The Book of Deer , a photo gallery with photos of some of Scotland's Celtic relics etc.(the photo gallery takes some time to download) , there is also a catalogue of Celtic Saints, a list of all the Scottish Kings buried on Iona and a list of the Pictish kings Lothene Experimental Archeology is an Edinburgh based group involved in researching and recreating aspects of life in Scotland in the 11th Century. Scottish Memories, magazine about Scottish History, has some articles on-line along with a brief summary of the current issue, subscriptions available on-line.
The Gathering of the Clans, primarily a meeting place for those wishing to research their Scottish ancestors, they also include an interesting section on "Famous Scots" from medieval to modern times.
